It is during working hours that more distractions arise and an (in)terminable battle begins against Social Media, Smartphone, conversations with colleagues, among others. Making it harder is the photographs of co-workers, friends, and family, enjoying extensive sunbathing, world travel and a dream vacation that you also wanted to experience at the moment. Do you identify yourself? Then you will also know that you are scattering your attention and reducing your productivity at work.

The focus is one of the most valued competencies in the job market, as focused professionals produce more and generate more results. However, sometimes people find it difficult to stay focused, but as you know, focus and attention are critical to achieving goals and meeting goals (whether personal or professional).

Have you ever wondered how many times you access Social Media while you are working? Or how often do you check your smartphone during a dialogue with a friend? We remember that time does not go back and may waste a unique opportunity or moment. BUT if you apply the techniques presented below, you'll be able to focus for longer and exponentially increase your productivity.

HOW DO YOU KEEP FOCUS ON WORK WHEN EVERYONE IS ON VACATION?

#1 BE PUNCTUAL

Arriving on company hours is synonymous with having more time to do your job, making you more responsible and productive. So if you want to show more results, you'll find that waking up 5 minutes early will make all the difference!

#2 DEFINE PRIORITIES AND PLAN YOUR TASKS

Check all the activities you have planned for the day and set the priority or harder to accomplish activities (if applicable, start here!). If necessary, make a "To Do List" (with the task and the time of accomplishment), to better manage your time and to fulfill the defined objectives.

#3 ELIMINATE ALL DISTRACTIONS

f your colleagues' conversations, social networks, or corporate noises (eg.: air conditioning, keyboards) bother you and distract you, eliminate them! Use headphones, lock windows in search engines, or apply stricter measures (eg.: limit access to your phone and personal emails), but work offline!

#4 MAKE SMALL PAUSES

We well know that it is not always easy to stay focused, but taking small breaks increases your productivity and creativity! Have a coffee, relax, get distracted and get away from work for a few minutes. When you return to your activity, you will have a different and fresher perspective, facilitator of new ideas and problem-solving!

TIP:

Try the Pomodoro Technique, where you work 25 minutes (1 Pomodoro) and do a break of 3 to 5 minutes and after 4 Pomodoros, take a longer break (between 15 to 30 minutes). However, we advise you to adapt to the technique according to your abilities and needs, because if for yourself 25 minutes are not ideal, choose 30 or 40 minutes.

#5 SET A FOXED TIME TO RESPOND TO EMAILS

Stop what you are doing to respond to emails, negatively influence your concentration and productivity at work! Set aside fixed times of the day to read and respond to all emails (eg.: in the early morning and after lunch).

#6 RAPIDITY VS QUALITY

Quantity and speed are not always synonymous with quality, accuracy, and rigor, and the anxiety to finish tasks quickly increases its de-concentration. Stay focused on what you are doing and do not try to be "Multitasking" as it further undermines your attention, compromises the quality of your work, and probably ends your day exhausted with unfinished tasks.

#7 ATTRIBUTE AWARDS TO YOURSELF

Were you able to finish all your tasks? Excellent, good job! Find a way to reward yourself (eg.: think of something you enjoy doing and dedicate your time to this activity) to feel more motivated and confident, you deserve it!

And remember: even the most boring tasks bring you some kind of benefit, just define what you can gain from them (eg.: doing a market study can even be tedious, but you will gain new knowledge).

#8 CHOOSE GOOD HEADPHONES

Listening to ambient music, nature sounds or classical music can increase your concentration and productivity. Especially if you choose Noise Canceling Headphones, which block external noise at 100%.

#9 KEEP ACTIVE AND HEALTHY

Practicing sports daily contributes to your physical and mental well-being, increasing your focus, motivation, and reasoning ability. Take care of your body and your mind, control your sleep (try sleeping the right number of hours) and eat well. Did you know that your digestive system spends a lot of energy digesting all the fat you eat, thereby increasing your tiredness? Choose healthier meals that provide comfort during the day.

#10 KNOW YOUR LIMITS

Productivity and creativity are characteristics that directly interfere with the projects and results of the company, but not everyone can be productive every day. This is not a problem, but a characteristic, so you should always know your limits! And no, you do not have to be good at everything!
